The Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) is a state-of-the-art laser technology based on a thulium-doped optical fiber, designed for high-precision urological procedures. Thanks to its characteristics, it allows for the effective treatment of urinary stones and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) using minimally invasive techniques, minimizing tissue damage and promoting faster patient recovery.

TFL for the treatment of urinary lithiasis 

The TFL allows fragmentation of stones located in the kidney, ureter or bladder by means of ureteroscopy or retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS), without the need to make incisions. 

Its high precision facilitates very fine fragmentation of the stone, making it easier for the stone to be eliminated spontaneously or extracted during the procedure. Furthermore, the reduced retropulsion of the stone helps improve the efficiency of the procedure.

TFL for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) 

The Thulium Fiber Laser is also used in endoscopic surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia, allowing the removal of prostatic tissue that obstructs the flow of urine without the need for open surgery. 

This is a minimally invasive technique that offers excellent bleeding control and allows for the treatment of prostates of different sizes, promoting faster recovery and a significant improvement in urinary symptoms.

Considerations 

• Not all patients require laser treatment; the indication will depend on an individualized assessment.
