What is the urinary incontinence chair?

The ACTIVE magnetic stimulation chair induces thousands of contractions of the pelvic floor muscles, improving their tone and restoring neuromuscular control in the area while the patient remains comfortably seated.

How does the urinary incontinence chair work?

The chair uses a focused magnetic field to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles deeply and completely painlessly. The patient simply sits down—without needing to undress—while thousands of muscle contractions are generated per session, similar to those in Kegel exercises but at a supramaximal intensity that is impossible to achieve voluntarily.

It is a minimally invasive and painless treatment, you should feel the contractions of your pelvic floor. This will serve to improve your awareness of your pelvic muscles and help you perform Kegel exercises more effectively at home. These serve as an adjunct to the incontinence treatment you are undergoing.

How long does the session last and how many sessions are needed?

In general, a protocol of 6 to 8 sessions of 28 minutes (2 per week) is recommended. However, the frequency and duration of treatment can be adjusted according to the needs of each patient after a personalized medical assessment.

At the end of treatment, your physician will re-evaluate you to assess the need for additional sessions, add other complementary treatments or terminate pelvic floor treatment. Some patients may need follow-up or maintenance sessions to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the treatment.

How should I prepare for the sessions?

No prior preparation is necessary before the sessions, although we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing. This treatment does not require recovery time and you can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure.

Considerations

It is important for a healthcare professional to evaluate the patient to determine whether the ACTIVE chair is an appropriate treatment for their specific case. Although this is a minimally invasive treatment, there are some contraindications for treating urinary incontinence with the chair:

- Pregnancy, even in the first weeks of gestation.
- Pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or neurostimulator.
- Electronic implants.
- Pulmonary insufficiency, respiratory distress and severe chronic asthma.
- Metallic implants of any kind in the pelvic, femoral or sacral area.
- At the vascular level, aortic stents and other devices of metallic origin.
- Hemorrhagic pathologies and anticoagulant therapies as a precaution.
- Active malignant tumor in the pelvic area.
- Fever or genital infections.
- Copper IUD.
